A mobile with a charged battery is invaluable. To prepare for the possibility of an emergency arising, you should know your location at all times. The emergency services may not be able to work from bridge numbers. When you call the emergency services you should: * State the nature of the emergency. * Give your location, the location of the emergency and confirm a call-back phone number. * Be prepared to advise on best access * Be prepared to meet emergency services at a convenient point * Describe the surroundings It's a good idea to carry a first aid book. It will give advice on dealing with victims of an accident. Better still, do a first aid course at least once but preferably keep yourself updated with refresher courses.
