The Boston, Brockton, and New York canal was proposed but never built because the
Cape Cod canal was built instead.

For futher information, contact the newspaper "The Quincy Patriot Ledger" in Quincy,
Mass. and try to get a copy of an article entitled "The canal That Never Was"
from the edition of Sat.-Sun. Feb. 27/28 1999.  The Braintree Historical Society of
Braintree, Mass. also has information on the subject.
